The 5GIC and its partners, Huawei, Vodafone and Technical University of Munich showed a fully operational Audi Q7 located on the Stag Hill campus in Guildford being operated from a control panel in the London ExCeL conference centre – all made possible thanks to the power of 5G.
The demonstration was part of the 8th Global Mobile Broadband Forum, hosted by Huawei, its industry partners GSMA and GTI, and took place on 15 and 16 November. At the Forum, 5GIC, Huawei and Vodafone also showcased a range of innovations, including a world’s first demonstration of 5G-enabled stream of holographic content.
Professor Rahim Tafazolli, Founder and Director of the 5GIC, said: “With these demonstrations it shows that 5G is now a reality and the technology can have a transformative impact on all aspects of our lives - from mobile broadband communications to automation of many industries.”
